I am interested in plant secondary metabolites with potential anti-cancer properties.  In my current research I am focused on three endemic plants to Hispaniola to address the following objectives: 1) To explore their cytotoxic properties and their potential as source of anti-cancer compounds; 2) To identify the compounds responsibly of the cytotoxic activity applying HPLC, MS, and NMR techniques; and 3) To propose a new drug with anti-cancer activity.  Researches in this area will allow the isolation of new molecules, and at the same time, to achieve the knowledge of Hispaniola phytogenetic potential.
