 Welcome..
The Environmental Health and Safety Office (EHS) in Wooster, Ohio is a branch of The Ohio State University Environmental Health and Safety Office in Columbus, Ohio. The EHS Office assists in providing and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for faculty, staff, students, vendors, contractors and visitors. The EHS Office approaches safety problems through inspections, recommendations, development of safety programs, development of safety protocols and presentation of safety educational training, and accident investigations. Our objective is the protection of life and property by reducing and controlling incidents involving fires, occupational diseases, hazardous materials, explosions, and/or human error. We also strive to protect the local community and environment from potential hazards generated by Wooster Campus activities and ensure compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
Although responsibility for administering the Wooster Campus safety program is assigned to the EHS Office, the success of this program is dependent on all members of the campus community. Safety at any location is not the exclusive responsibility of any one employee, the Director, the EHS Office, the Environmental Safety Committee or it's Chairman. The Environmental Safety Committee exists to coordinate the comprehensive and continuing accident prevention efforts by the departments within the Wooster campus in meeting their responsibilities. Everyone has a responsibility for their safety and the safety of those they are in contact or work with. The safety responsibility of faculty, staff and students is in direct relationship to their own responsibility.
