Research Overview
Ecology

Ecology provides for conceptual linkages among molecular biology, physiology, toxicology, multispecies interactions, and ecosystem management. The department has major research, teaching and outreach activities in each of these areas, including molecular, physiological, chemical, behavioral, community ecosystem, and landscape ecology.
Ecological concepts permeate much of the research in the department, including research focused on soil ecology, plant/herbivore, predator/prey, and tri-trophic interactions, as well as intraspecific interactions, interactions between insects and the abiotic environment, and nutrient and toxin flow through ecosystems.
