| Evolutionary Biology | ||
Evolutionary biology plays a central role in the department, especially in the programs of systematics, biodiversity and biodiversity informatics, acarology, research in pesticide resistance, and host plant resistance to arthropod pests. It provides a conceptual bridge between molecular, organismal, population and ecosystem level research that is just beginning to be fully explored in collaborations within the department. |
||
| Department faculty conduct behavioral research at similar levels, from molecular to ecosystems and phylogenetics. With collective expertise spanning the genetic and molecular basis of individual behaviors to their population, evolutionary and ecological consequences we are well-positioned to contribute substantially to the burgeoning field of functional genomics, with potential for discoveries that could prove quite valuable in agriculture and medicine. | ||
