Entomology

Graduate student spotlight:

GIANCARLO LOPEZ MARTINEZ

I was an undergrad majoring in Animal Sciences and EEOB when I decided to take an Entomology class since my goal was to go to vet school and work on arthropod-borne diseases of domesticated animals.  Dr. John Wenzel changed my life that quarter.  I became so interested in Entomology because of him that I added it as a major.  I had long conversations with both Dr. Wenzel and my Entomology advisor, Dr. Hall. It was this interaction with them that made the process of applying to graduate school in Entomology both
easy and enjoyable.  I think that interaction is crucial to the process of entering grad school and for the experience to be both meaningful and straightforward.  Both of them encouraged and helped me in the transition.  Dr. Wenzel was on my M.S. committee and is currently on my Ph.D. one as well.
