Graduate Education

Ph.D. and M.S. degrees can be pursued at OSU in the Departments of Horticulture and Crop Science, Entomology, Plant Pathology and Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Graduate students may reside on the main campus in Columbus or at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) campus in Wooster, Ohio. The purpose of our graduate programs is to train future scientists, teachers and extension agents who will contribute new ideas and technologies to the Floriculture Industry.

Such a program is broadly based in many disciplines and applies knowledge and technologies from genetics, molecular biology, engineering, entomology, plant pathology and computer science to solving problems relevant to Floriculture crop production and germplasm enhancement. Graduate students research how to produce plants more efficiently, manage and control diseases and insects and maintain plant quality after production. They also evaluate new plant materials, discovered from wild populations or created by breeding or biotechnology, for traits of interest to the Floriculture Industry.

More information about graduate studies at The Ohio State University can be obtained from the graduate school and applications can be completed online.

Please Note: OSU will be converting from quarters to semesters in early 2012.
