Introduction

Welcome! Growing fresh fruit at home can be an excellent hobby as well as a shared activity for the entire family. There are many benefits to growing and eating fruit at home including, but not limited to, healthy nutrition. It is well known that most fruits have high levels of fiber, vitamin C and some have significant levels of anti-oxidants among other benefits. Growing fruit at home is usually far more challenging than just planting the fruit crop and waiting for harvest. Challenges can include selecting the proper site, how to plant the crop, attending to the proper nutritional needs of the crop, selection of the right cultivar, proper training and pruning, and pest management. This website will focus on disease management in home fruit plantings for the most common fruits grown in Ohio.

On your left are Powerpoint presentations for five commonly grown fruits; apples, brambles, grapes, stonefruits and strawberries. Click on either the fruits name or the picture of the fruit to launch the presentation. However, if you wish to download your own copy of the Powerpoint presentation you can find a link to each file below.
