Facilities Services

The Central Heating Plant supplies steam to the campus for heating and a variety of other uses. The plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The plant also houses the chilled water system, which provides cooling to buildings in the main campus region.

The Carpenter Shop is responsible for building and greenhouse maintenance. The shop handles small remodeling projects, glass replacements and covering of greenhouses. The carpenters handle everything from repairing and replacing locks to concrete projects.

The Maintenance Shop handles repairs and maintains a variety of items for buildings, roads, animal facilities and various equipment.  This shop also welds and fabricates metal items. This crew also handles outdoor setup of tables and chairs for special events.

The Plumbing Shop handles all water related repairs on everything from dripping sinks to broken water mains. The shop also handles repairs to other service lines, such as gas in the labs, and maintains the campus water system, including regular water testing and reporting.

The Paint Shop is responsible for surface preparation and the application of a variety of coatings to buildings and building accessories. Both interior and exterior projects are handled.

The HVAC Shop is responsible for heating, air conditioning, and ventilation on the campus. The shop maintains cooling systems and all control systems throughout the campus.

The electricians handle the repair, replacement, and maintenance of all electrical systems on the campus and can assist in the installation of new equipment.

The Electronic Shop is available to assist in diagnosing problems with electronic equipment on campus.
