Searching for Journal Impact Factor and Ranking

Begin Journal Citation Reports

  • Select edition and year
  • Select View a group by Subject category
  • Click on 
  • Select the subject category most appropriate to the journal contents.  It is possible to select more than one category.
  • When ranking results, compare journals within a single category or among similar groups.
  • The sort defaults to title.
  • The Journal Summary List displays the journals within the subject category.
  • The titles are sorted by the criteria in the highlighted column.  Additional sorts on other criteria are selectable.
  • Data elements are defined in the Glossary of terms.
  • Select "impact factor" as the sort option and click on  to obtain a list sorted by impact factor.
  • The number is the column labeled "rank" is the rank within the journals in the category group.
  • Eg. Journal of Dairy Science has an impact factor of 1.823 and has a rank of 1 out of 44 in this subject category.
  • Click on the linked journal title to view the full information about the journal, which includes the subject categories to which the title is assigned.
