The primary focus of our research is the development of integrated, sustainable disease management systems for conventional and organic vegetable production. Research emphasis is on:
1) development of biocontrol strategies for disease management in vegetable crops and incorporation of these strategies into Integrated Pest Management (IPM) systems
2) understanding the relationships among cropping strategies, soil amendments, soil biota and crop varieties and their relationships to disease development
3) detection and quantification of pathogen and biocontrol agent populations through soil and plant ecosystems
4) use of molecular approaches to study taxonomic relationships among plant pathogens
5) development of ecologically sound, sustainable integrated disease management strategies for vegetable production in developing countries |
