Since its formation in 1988, the NABC has been hosting annual public meetings about the safe, ethical and efficacious development of agricultural biotechnology products. NABC 20 will be held in downtown Columbus, Ohio, June 3-5, 2008.
Representing the eastern edge of the Corn Belt, Ohio is home to more than 11 million people and several major metropolitan areas, including Cleveland and Cincinnati.
Agriculture still ranks as the state's number-one industry, with an economic value of $93 billion and a contribution to one in seven Ohio jobs.
As opportunities for agricultural crops expand beyond food and fiber, there is increasing interest to build on the synergism between the agricultural sector and Ohio’s $50 billion polymer industry, which is linked to a diverse supply chain of manufacturing and industries, including national leadership positions in paints, adhesives, rubber and detergents.
Polymer Ohio Inc., an organization representing the polymer industry, will hold its biennial Ohio Polymer Summit on June 3 at the same location as NABC 20, enabling leverage of overlapping themes.
NABC 20 will broaden the Agricultural Biofuels theme focused on at NABC 19 in Brookings, South Dakota. Four modules will focus on different aspects of this year’s conference theme.
For each module, keynote speakers and response panelists will present different viewpoints on the topic, and all attendees will have an opportunity to participate in small group discussions.
