Letter from the Director
At the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center,
we know Ohioans are concerned about economic development and
the quality of life.
We are, too. In this report you'll find 21 examples of
OARDC researchers focusing on these two areas. For example:
- OARDC scientists are working to develop vaccines
that will protect farm animals as well as human babies
from deadly diseases.
- Others are discovering how to make winter wheat
stand up better to harsh winters.
- Our soil scientists are working to address carbon
sequestration to better our air and soils around the
world.
- Our breeders are "building" better soybeans that
can attract new overseas markets, withstand diseases, or
produce higher yields.
- Our scientists are working with companies to
study and develop the use of biological controls for
turfgrass.
- Our food scientists are finding ways to speed the
detection of microbes so that contaminated food never
hits the grocery stores.
- Our researchers are finding ways to help young
fathers be good fathers.
This report can only show a small piece of our work.
Further details are available on our web site at
