A Message from the Vice President
We work towards the future:
In today's fast-paced world, most would agree that
standing still is really moving back. That's why at Ohio
State University, we determine our research and Extension
priorities with an eye towards the future needs of Ohioans
and with a consideration for the latest in technology. We
provide a place for Ohioans to receive research-based
information, and to participate in educational programs, to
better their lives, businesses and communities.
In the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental
Sciences, in conjunction with our many partner colleges
across the university, researchers work with educators to
get information out to people who can use it. The land-grant
system works in a circular fashion:
- Researchers discover knowledge.
- Students learn the latest in scientific discovery
and take it with them into the workforce.
- Extension professionals disseminate the information to adult learners.
- Extension with a presence in every county learns
the emerging needs of Ohioans and delivers that
information back to researchers
and the cycle
continues.
Our annual reports for Ohio State University Extension
and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center
showcase how our researchers and Extension agents work
towards the future. I hope you'll enjoy reading about their
successes as much as I have.
