Divya is a PhD candidate in the Environment and Natural Resource graduate program. Her research focuses on the role of local institutions in rule enforcement in natural resource management. For her research, Divya is following a comparative case study analysis wherein she would be comparing cases forest management from the central Himalayan region in India and south-east Ohio region in the US. This comparative analysis will help understanding causal process of enforcement mechanism and also role of institutions in natural resource management.
Her interests include:
- Environment Governance, where she is interested in institutional analysis, policy process, decentralization, forest policies, comparative environmental politics.
- Environment Management, which includes natural resource management, traditional ecological knowledge, biodiversity conservation, mountain ecosystem management, climate change, REDD+/REDD++.
- Collaborative environment management, where she is interested in community based conservation, stakeholder participation, local institutions.
She served as Graduate Teaching Associate for:
ENR 606.01 (Natural Resource Management) AU 2009;
ENR 203 (Society and Natural Resources) SU 2010;
ENR 400 (Natural Resource Policy) WI 2010, SP 2010, WI 2011.
She worked as a Graduate Research Associate with Robyn Wilson on a project on weed management behavior of farmers in the Mid-West and New England region of the US wherein she analyzed interviews of organic farmers. (SU & AU 2011)
Her advisor is Tom Koontz.
