Staff Advisory Council Elects
New Vice Chair
by Cindy Crawford
Spring has been a busy time for the Staff
Advisory Council. The staff survey was sent out and returned. The results
are now being compiled and will likely be published during summer quarter.
The response rate was good and all staff members completing the survey by
May 18, 2000 are eligible for a prize drawing sponsored by the College.
Thanks to all who completed and returned the survey!
Following the April departure of council chair, Thad Welch, Vice Chair
Christine Nielsen was installed as Chairperson. It was decided by the
council that Christine will finish out this term (through September, 2000)
as well as next year’s term.
Elections were held in May for the vacant
Vice Chair position. The Council is pleased to announce that Debra
Gallagher is the new Vice Chair. She will serve the rest of this term
(through September, 2000) and next and then move into the Chairperson
position in September 2002. Having
worked for OSU for 18 years, Ms. Gallagher
is the Graduate Program Coordinator in the Animal Sciences Department.
Anxious to begin her new role, Ms. Gallagher particularly notes
interest in working with administration to offer development opportunities
to staff: “I would like to
see the Council move forward in an advisory role to Dean Moser.
We need to be a conduit to the staff as well."
Council
members recently participated in the College’s “Foundations”
Professional Development Program, facilitated by Mr. Paul Axtell.
Held at Wedgewood Golf and Country Club in Powell on May 9 and 10,
2000, the program offered attendees (college administration, faculty and
staff) an opportunity to improve individual effectiveness by learning and
applying concepts and practices that make a difference and bring about
results.
