College Responds to Staff Reward System Guidelines
Proposal
by Janice DiCarolis and Susan Sommer
The Vice President's Administrative Cabinet, department chairs, and
school directors have reviewed the Staff Reward System Guidelines proposal
submitted by the College Staff Advisory Council (SAC) to Vice President
Bob Moser Oct. 26, 2000. As a result, college administration has formed a
working group to develop a supervisory training program on performance
appraisal and a plan for implementation of the program for 2002. Expansion
of awards for staff at the college and departmental levels and
establishment of awards committees at the department and unit levels are
also being explored.
The SAC Rewards task force will respond to requests from the college
for further information to develop a "Traveling Companions
Program" in which various staff members participate with the Roads
Scholar Tours and accompany the Vice President and Executive Dean in
travels throughout Ohio to speak to alumni and commodity groups), a
"Staff Citizenship Award", and suggestions regarding how to
nurture a culture of inclusion and involvement within the college.
The Council recently formed a task force to focus on performance review
processes for college staff. Members from the council include Carol Bunn,
Mary Reedy, Regina Vann and Barb LaMoreaux. The task force will enlist
assistance from representatives outside the Council.
The CFAES Staff Survey task force continues compilation of results from
the survey sent to all college staff last spring. A report summarizing the
results of the survey will soon be available. Using survey data, the Staff
Development task force is preparing a proposal to present to Moser and the
administrative cabinet addressing staff development issues.
The Staff Advisory Council encourages staff members to contact Council
members with questions or concerns regarding staff related issues. Contact
information is available at http://cfaes.osu.edu/staffadvisorycouncil.
