Cellular Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Soybean Defense ActivationResearch in our lab is focused on the intracellular and intercellular (cell-to-cell) signaling events that regulate deployment of a complex grid of molecular defense responses in soybean.As shown below, the defense grid in soybean includes the induction of pathogenesis-related (PR) proteins and secondary products in local, distal and systemic cell populations. We are using a number of molecular approaches to characterize the signaling events that lead to the deployment of these responses. For a recent mini-review, click here (pdf file). See the
