OARDC will host the 10th annual Science of Agriculture workshop October 16-17, 2012. Activities for K-5 students will take place on October 16; events for grade 6-12 students will be October 17. Registration is now closed with over 200 students on the wait list! Stay tuned to our Facebook page for the latest updates.
Approximately 750 students will be attending out 2012 event. Session locations have been distributed via e-mail to each group's contact person. Contact your group leader if you could like a copy in advance. If you plan to attend, don't forget to download a copy of our OARDC campus map to determine the location of your sessions and assess your transportation needs. Remember, you are responsible for transporting your students to all sessions.
Each year, registration is processed on a first-come, first-serve basis, so be sure to register right away once registration opens if you are interested in attending a future event.
Sessions are conducted by faculty and staff from OARDC's departments of Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering; Horticulture and Crop Science; and Plant Pathology as well as the Garden of Roses of Legend and Romance and Secrest Arboretum and the Offices of the Director. Additional sessions are conducted by the United States Department of Agriculture/Agricultural Research Service, Wayne County Soil & Water Conservation District, Ohio State University Extension, OSUE Wayne County, the Ohio Pork Producers and the Ohio FFA Association.
So what will kids learn? Unsure what sessions are for you? Learn what state science indicators and standards are addressed for your grade by the various sessions. Please note that we have not analyzed several of our newer sessions, but we will be working to do so and will make updates as soon as they are availably.
