On April 11-12, 2012, OARDC will be hosting it's 10th annual A Bug's World workshop with sessions conducted by faculty and staff from the Department of Entomology in cooperation with other departments on campus.
Registration is now closed for this event. If you are already registered to attend, please be sure to arrive on campus with your schedule for the day in-hand. Attendees also need to review our list of student and teacher expections as well as our listing of session locations. This year we are also providing a map of session locations in both Fisher Auditorium and Shisler Conference Center.
This year's event will only be available for students in grades 1-3. With so much interest and demand for our event and students ending up on the waiting list each year, we believe that narrowing our target age range will allow our presenters to make their sessions more effective and age-appropriate to connect with the specific life science standards being addressed in these grade level. We also ask that all chaperones refrain from bringing along younger siblings to this event to enhance and protect the educational experience of those students who are in grades 1-3 and registered for the event.
Once you have registered for this event, you will receive a confirmation schedule from our office. A few weeks before the event session locations will be made available for download. Attendees are required to provide their own transportation to and from sessions at the event; although we make every effort to locate the sessions as close to each other as possible, some may require vehicular trasportation and attendees must plan for this possibility. Any groups who are unable to do so and then cancel or fail to appear for sessions for which they are scheduled will be wait-listed for next year's event until all other groups have had the opportunity to register.
Because of the tornado that hit our campus in September 2010 and resulting relocation of offices and personnel, our sessions are likely to be more spread out than in previous years. That makes it even more important to plan your route and transportation needs for the day. We apologize for any inconvenience, but please trust that we have worked our hardest to make this event as successful as possible.
We're looking forward to another great event in 2012!!
