Good Plant Gone Bad, and What We Can Do About It
Good Plant Gone Bad, and What We Can Do About It

John Cardina dwarfed by velvetleaf plants in an OARDC greenhouse. A professor in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science, Cardina is studying how a plant evolves from a crop to a weed. He's using seeds from his research collection and from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to do it. Grown for centuries for its fiber, velvetleaf has turned into a troublesome weed, especially in row crops.

A Key Economic Driver for Ohio

A new Battelle study released in January 2009 calls OARDC a substantial economic engine helping to drive Ohio's recovery and consolidation as a leader in the emerging bio-economy.

Read the Battelle report, OARDC's latest Annual Report, Success Stories, and Impact on Ohio Jobs and Support for Private Industry.
