Research Interests:

My research interest is to address weed and herbicide problems in vineyards. My Ph.D. project is to use herbicide treated mulches to control weeds, as well as to provide many other benefits in vineyards, including winter protection, soil conservation and reduction in herbicide offsite movement. The two-year data indicated that herbicide treated mulches have a great potential to provide the multiple benefits listed above.

Another research project is to manage herbicide drift damage to grapevines. This is becoming a great concern because of the release of dicamba-resistant soybean in the near future. Because grapes are very sensitive to dicamba, sever damage could occurred in response to herbicide drift. Therefore, there is a great research need to manage dicamba and 2,4-D drift and the associated damage from the surrounding land.
